Color consistency across various printing technologies and substrates
Digital printing in general, and inkjet printing technology in particular, allows us to print on a wide variety of substrates.
This technology is provided by dozens of different machine manufacturers using different inks, print speeds, and other factors that affect the result.
Machine and substrate vendors try to help by providing what are called "generic ICC profiles" that are supposed to produce pleasing colors.
But they cannot compensate for variations caused by differences in printheads, ink loads, or similar but different substrates.
Without an accurate characterization of your presses, it's also impossible to move jobs to different presses for reprints without accepting huge color shifts.
A spectrophotometer like the MYIRO-1 gives you the ability to objectively judge whether these differences will be visible and possibly cause complaints from your customers. It also allows you to objectively match colors against a reference, eliminating trial and error. As a result, you save material, time, energy and ultimately money.
Characterization of printer behaviour
The spectrophotometer combined with a software solution allows you to perform printer calibration (linearization and profiling). In addition, it allows you to regularly check color deviations. Now you can objectively judge when the printer calibration needs to be updated. If your RIP already has calibration and profiling capabilities, check if it has a driver for MYIRO-1 or MYIRO-9 . If not, MYIROtools creates standard profiles which can be used in every ICC-compliant RIP.
